Verification
The verification of the system to be implemented in silicon is of course crucial, with verification on different levels such as RTL and Gate Level utilizing both functional and formal verification. As an alternative, one can employ higher level verification methodologies using object oriented approaches or emulation.
System on Chip
A digital System-on-Chip typically consists of a processor, memory handler, general micro processor function blocks, internal buses, external interfaces and the application specific parts. The concept of System on Chip was originally intended for ASIC implementation, but today miscellaneous processor solutions are available also in programmable devices such as FPGAs or FPGAs with embedded CPU cores.
