Designers of digital systems are challenged with increased performance requirements for transmission capacity, power consumption and density. With increasingly smaller silicon geometries, it is clear that the limitations for the designs of tomorrow will be in the connections between circuits. With today's enormously complex components with up to 1000 connections and the mechanical restrictions for the backplanes, more and more people have realized that we are at the end of the road with traditional parallel transmissions, i.e. buses.
What can be done
BitSim can utilize new technology in the semiconductor arena with new protocols. These can serially transmit up to 10 GBits/s per pair of wires for distances more than a meter on ordinary board laminates. In this way, all three problem areas above are addressed: massive increase in transmission capacity, fewer wires and radically reduced power consumption.
