Optical Fiber Analyzer
This product measures the optical features of a fiber.
The system was based on a Compact PCI form factor for the integration of a 1U rack mounted units. A single chip microcontroller with integrated communication channels was selected together with an Altera FPGA. A PCI interface IP was integrated into the FPGA to enable communication with a Compact PCI based CPU board running a RTOS.

BitSim was responsible for the specification, system design, board and FPGA design plus the analog interface. A verification specification was used as the basis for test bench development and board testing. A close modelling of a complete funtional design simplified lab debugging considerably. Problems found in lab were quickly modelled in simulation.
Tools used were Orcad Schematics, Altera Quartus, Wind River Systems VxWorks, and Gnu development environment.
